Jeg forstar Ladegaardsoen er gamle navn av Bygdoy pre-1877. Is this true? Is it also a farm name? What church would people living there in the 1830's have attended? Niels Christensen and wife Anne Marie Larsdatter are not in 1865 census, only appear for dau. Andrine Nicoline's baptism 26 Sept 1836. Any suggestions as to where to go next? Mange tusen takk.

That's true although Bygdøy is an older name. The main farm at Ladegaardsøen was just called 'Ladegaardsøen', or 'Ladegaardsøen Hovedgaard'. It was (and still is) the king's property. As far as I know, the whole island (in fact a peninsula) belonged to this farm, but there where several sub farms (owned by the main farm).In the 1830s Ladegaardsøen was attended to Aker parish. Perhaps the best place to find out more of your family is the church books of Aker?

Correctly enough: Bygdøy is presently a peninsula, but we don't have to go very much back in time to find the island of Bygdøy. It was sometimes separated from the mainland at high tide as recently as at the end of the 18th century.

The baptism was - as Laila writes - on Dec. 26th, 1836. Her parents were 'Pige [maid] Aase Maria Larsdatter paa Ladegaardsøen og Ungk.
