Hold on there, Tom. I'm not guessing here. And I think you are being much too slavish about naming patterns. When you go back to this early time period, you don't find such rigid naming patterns. Aanund Torkjelson Lundevall, Egil Holtan's brother, didn't have any grandchildren named Torkjel, either.Egil Holtan owned a lot of property. He is listed on tax rolls up to 1625 as owning, most of Holtan, 1 tn in Hemmestveit, 2 1/2 tn in Homme, 1 tin in UTSUND,1 tn in Bekkhus (Mandal in Flatdal that went to his nephew Guttorm Aslakson Bekkhus), 2 tn in Kvaale (which I think must be Kvaale in Høydalsmo), 1 tn in Loupedalen, 1tn in KVANBEKK, 1 tn in Hovdekleiv and 1 tn in Ormtveit.When Anne Egilsdtr died in 1660 at Midgarden in Rauland, her estate included 1 tin in Utsund.

I'd also like to correct myself: Rikard Berge do not, as far as I can see, mention Anne Egilsdotter Kvannbekk as anything but Anne Egilsdotter. Neither does he mention her father - at least not in connection with her. This information I do have from Jens Chr. Magnus: 'Slekts- og gårdshistorie for utvalgte gårder i Vinje og Rauland - og noen til' (1998).This book's advantage is that it's written in understandable norwegian (to a norwegian, at least). It's disadvantage is that it's entirely based on printed sources - and that it's filled with missprints concerning birth, marriage and death years - it doesn't even agree with itself from page to page. And it's only about a few, selected farms.But it's norwegian is joyful...
