Hello, Jorunn. We will look for both. And I think I found Kirsten Emilie and Asta Otelie in the 1920 Census. I found them under Christine Fosen, in Chicago, Cook County, Illinios, ED 861, page 3B, microfilm #T625-324.It says: Christine Fosen, head, 24, year of emigration unknown, Alien (not a citizen), employment 'clerical in office'. Asta, sister, 22, also 'clerical in office'. They rented their home at 3815 West End? Ave.I did make a summary for Roger. It is in English and too long to post here, but if you would like a copy, please send me your e-mail address. My e-mail address is bergan.schmidt@tellenar.com.

At Ridgewood today, i learned that Annette and Karl are in unmarked graves, Kathy was correct(about Karl), but the cemetery would not tell me the day of Dec, maybe Kathy will have better luck. Do you wish to pay for the death certificate? The son Edwin, per ssdi, is likely, born 3 aug 1910, died nov 1972, 318-18-5784, but again no day or place. The daughter, per cemetery records, was Roma Lindholm; per ssdi, born 21 sep 1906, died 24 nov 2001, Dundee, Kane, IL; 349-20-0288. I will request an obit; perhaps Violet will be mentioned. Roger.

Information about how to get death certificates from Cook County, Illinois, is on the website at http://www.cookctyclerk.com/vitalrecordsdiv.html. They cost USD $10. Option number 3 is what should be done. I called the office to ask about charging by credit card through the VitalChek service and was told that would not be accepted from outside of the United States. Many of my Norwegian relatives who lived in Chicago also have unmarked graves and other people tell me that they often find the same for relatives they have looked for. Many probably couldn’t afford to pay for a stone when the person died, planned to do it “later”, and then “later” never came. Although Karl and Annette seemed to have a comfortable life, she did die during the Depression of the 1930's. Probably a lot of families decided to buy gravestones “later” in those days.
