It is helpful to know the history behind the name changes. But I am still uncertain as to the best way to show place names in my family tree. Locality names changed so much over the years. Is there a standard protocol for this? Do I convert all farm/sokn/fylke to their modern equivalents, or show them as they were at the time of each individual?
