One of the resources on the web pages of the Genealogy Society of Norway - DIS is the collection of 'Genealogical resources'.[url="http://www.dis-norge.no/genress/>http://www.dis-norge.no/genress/Follow the link 'Maps' then 'Norway' and you will find a variety of maps.On the web pages of the Sør-Trøndelag branche of DIS-Norge (DIS-Sør-Trøndelag) there is a map including Stjørdal:LenkeStjørdal is actually situated in Nord-Trøndelag, just north of the region marked in green on the mentioned map.The local web pages of DIS-Nord-Trøndelag are to be found on the following link:http://nt.disnorge.noAs of 1849 the parish of Stjørdal was divided into Øvre (upper) and Nedre (lower) Stjørdal. As for an overview of some genealogical sources for Stjørdal you will find that on the following link (unfortunately mostly in Norwegian):

The spelling is rather important in this case. 'Stordal' (stor = large, dal = valley, dale). As Birger points out 'Stordal' is to be found all over Norway. In context to thread 17066 the place in question is obviously Stjørdal. Kay, you probably have a problem typing the norwegian letters, but don't leave out the 'j'. Stjoerdal is perhaps the best substitute.Lenkemvh EAa
