[#17830] Emilie Alveberg

Recommended Posts

Guest Jim Alveberg

On 12 August, 1886, Emilie Alveberg (my ggrandmother) left the port of Kristiansund with her 4 children, Petra, Emil, Lily, and Ole. With them was a friend, Anna Greiff. They went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Emilie was a widow. I am trying to find the name of her late husband, and what Emilie's maiden name was.I have checked the Alveberg farm without success. Any help would be appreciated. Jim Alveberg

Thank you Moss Reidum Fladby for the information about the Greiff family. I have been to this site and it presents interesting possibilities. A theory I have is that Emilie Alveberg might have been Ragna Emelie Greiff before getting married. If so, perhaps that Anna Greiff listed on the emmigration records was her sister. The problem with that theory is that Anna Greiff's age doesn't match. She was 18 in the 1865 census, but 31 when she emigrated in 1886.
