If Ole was born in 1881, where would he have gone for military training? How old did you have to be enter and how long did it take? Somewhere along the way, Ole was a tailors apprentice, where would he have trained for this type of job? He told his children all young boys at the time had to learn a trade.

Nancy asked for some guesses about where Ole would have trained for being a tailor's apprentice. I did a search for such apprentices from Øre in the 1900 census. I found 6 and 5 of them lived in Kristiansund. This shouldn't be a surprise for anyone. Kristiansund was the town/city to go to for people in Øre. I suppose all of them were working for a master tailor. That was the way to be a craftsman at Ole's time.
