I have been attempting to find Elling Martin FREDERIKSEN born 25 Jul 1826 Larvik Vestfold on the 1865, 1875 & 1900 Census without result. He was a solicitor in Oslo and I have searched using every variant of his name, place of birth and occupation as advokat, jurist, sagfører, sakfører and sagfoerer. Are there any Directories of Occupations (Trade Directories) available for Oslo or Norway for the period 1850 to 1900?

Perhaps your information is somewhat unprecise? In FT 1865 we find Elseus M. Fredriksen, born in Larvik abt. 1825, as a 'fuldmægtig' (i.e. attorney or proxy) in Vikedal, Rogaland ( [url="http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f61157.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=9&fulle=true&spraak=e>Lenke ). His wife, Antonette, is found as a widow in Haugesund in 1875 ( Lenke ), and is at this occasion called 'sagførerenke' (i.e. solicitor's widow).
