[#28473] Fra Vang i Valdres til Amerika

Gjest A.E. Ferner

Lake Mills Graphic, Lake Mills, IA.------------Subject: KNUT IVERSON LOCKREM (Vang, Valdres Lake Mills, IA)For sometime K. I. Lockrem has been critically ill with cancer of the stomach. Everything possible was done to aid the suffer. The illness however was destined to be his last and his spirit winged its flight on Monday morning at 8 o'clock surrounded by his loved ones. K. I. Lockrem was born in Norway in 1844 coming to this country with his parents at the age of five. They went first to Wis., next to Iowa, near Decorah, and then to Rice Co., Mn. where he grew up. In May 1866 he was married to Miss Ragnald Stensbakken, 12 children coming to bless their lives, 9 of whom are still living. In 1876 they removed to Lake Mills and have lived here ever since. Mr. Lockrem was a member of the Synod church and the funeral was conducted by Rev. Lee at their church at 1:30 p.m. today. Iver Lockrem a brother of the deceased and Ole Stensbakken, a brother of Mrs. Lockrem both of Rice Co., Mn. were here at the last. The sympathy of the town goes out to the family in their loneliness and they may feel that they have the earnest, good wishes and sincere sympathy of everyone. It was a struggle to ward off that which they felt must come but to which they could not be reconciled. November 15, 1899.

Familien 'over there' er ihvertfall glad for å komme på sporet!
