Trine Robertsdatter Moddi f.1706 Nergård, Bjarkøy - Troms

Recommended Posts

Nils Johan Fosli

I skifte etter Robert Esausen Moddi, Nergård, Bjarkøy i 1730.

Nevnes blant annet datteren Trine 24 år, ugift og for "Fraværende"

I skiftet står også følgende opplysning:

Fogden fordrer leiermålsbøter for Trine som før sin bortreise har bedrevet leiermål

med Svend Larsen.

http://www.bjornnyheim.com/skiftersenja.pdf

Er det noen som kjenner noe til barnet som dette leiermålet resulterte i ?

Trine ble senere gift med Peder Jørgensen fra Bakkeby i Malangen og var bosatt der.

Hi Ron

I am not sure that Trine was Jens Jensen's mother. I have her born abt. 1706

and Jens born abt. 1722 so she seems to be too young. I have seen that some think

that Trine was married to Jens Isaksen in an earlier marriage. I am not sure it's

correct.

Maybe, Trine was Jens Jensen's mother in law ?? It looks like Trine had a child out

of wedlock with Svend Larsen, could this child be Ane Sibilla Svendsdatter ???

The age fits pretty well as Ane Sibilla is born abt.1730.

The names of Jens Jensen and Ane Sibilla Svendsdatter children indicates a Moddi

connection. One son was called Robert, another Malte and a daughter Trine.

When Trine died in 1781 she was said to be 86 years old? So there is a lot of questions.

If she was born in 1696 how could she have a daughter Marta f. ca 1750? I have looked for

Anne Svendsdr before but found nothing so its possible you are correct. Its also possible Marta Bull Pedersdr was Peders daughter with a housemaid. Very confusing!

According to Karl Sommer ( see #17 ) Anne Svendsdr. was the daughter of Svend Svendsen Lind and was born 1730 in Hillesøy. Karl also says Jens Jensen married ( 2 ) Ingeborg Paulsdr in Bakkeby. Her father Paul Jørgensen could be the brother of Peder Jørgensen

the 2nd husband of Trine. More confusing is in 1801 Bakkeby it shows Jens Jensen and Ingeborg Paulsdatter in a 1st marriage !!

The 1769-census have:

Peder Jørgensen 62 years (1707)

Trina Rubertsdatter 64 years (1705)

Martha Pedersdatter 18 years (1751)

Peder Jørgensen's probate record in 1773

Martha Bull is listed as 22 years old (1751)

In the 1801 census Martha is listed as 50 years old (1751)

I guess it's possible that Trine could give birth at 45/46

but you're right she's old.

Peder Jørgensen's probate gives no indication that Trine isn't

Martha's mother.

I have seen many that lists Anne Sibilla Svendsdatter as Svend Henrik Svendsen Lind daughter,

but nothing that proves the connection. Maybe it's right but where did they find it ??

Karl Sommer has 2 Jens Jensens mixed up!! Jens Jensen Bakkeby age 80 died 1801 Bakkeby

Jens Jensen enke Ane Sybylla Svendsdr. age 74 died 1804 Bakkeby. Both are in Tromsø

records. For some reason Ane is not shown in 1801 Census. But if Jens age is correct he was born 1721-22 and not 1735-36 like the Jens married to Ingeborg Paulsdr.

Peder ( not Jens!! ) Jørgensen would be Jens Jensen step father. So it all ties in.

Yes, I did notice that Peder and Paul Jørgensen were sponsores at Jens and Ane's marriage.

Some info from the old Malangen Bygdebok. The author belives that there must be a family conection between

Trine Robertsdatter Moddi and Jens Jensen's family. He just don't know what the connection is.

The bygebok also tells that Jens Jensen settled at a part of Peder Jørgensen's farm. (Indre Bakkeby)

So, it would make sence if Ane Sibilla Svendsdatter was Trine Robertsdatter Moddi's daughter born

out of wedlock. Still, it's just a theory/guess - no proof.

Nils its also possible both Jens Jensens were sons of Trine and her 1st husband Jens Isachsen. The confusion is caused by both having the same names. It was easy to check

with their deaths. Jens J f.1822 died 1801 Bakkeby and Jens J. f.1835 died 1808 Bakkeby

Jens living on Peder Jørgensens farm is because Peder J was his stepfather. Where did the other Jens J ( f. 1835 married to Ingeborg Paulsdr. )live? With Paul Jørgensen? Their father Jørgen Tommesen possibly had a lot of property in Bakkeby? Ron

Ron, I am not sure Trine was married to Jens Isachsen. I think that's a misunderstanding. In 1730 at the time of her fathers probate record, Trine was still unmarried.

The two Jens Jensen's must have lived almost next to each other. The part of Indre Bakkeby were Jens Jensen and Ane Sibilla Svendsdatter lived was called "Moen" (Malangen bygdebok)

The other Jens Jensen is called "Jens Jensen cotter" (Malangen bygdebok), so he probably didn't have a large property. Maybe just the house were they lived.

When Jens Jensen and Ingeborg Paulsdatter marries in 1772. He is listed as living at Spildra.

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:NBN:no-a1450-kb20050309010822.jpg

He could be the son of Jens Jacobsen and Karen Nilsdatter at Spildra.

Then he's probably born a little earlier 1727/1730 instead of 1735.
