Hi Rolf,

thank you for this valuable informations. Despite my research in the digital records of Calais, I never found the link between Hans Anton and Marius. Now, I know, it's great!

Do you have any relation with Apeness family?

Hi Rolf and Jan

Thanks a lot for your informations.

One more question: wich is the right spelling, Apeness or Apenes? I've a paper where Apeness is written.

The origin of the name is from the farm Apenes located in Horten. Todays spelling is Apenes but in the old days, both Apeness or Apenæss. I think the

descendants in Norway spell it Apenes.

I agree with Rolf. I have seen Apenæs, Apenæss, Apenes and Apeness used in documentation. The naming some times change from generation to generation. The conclution seems to be there is no clear standard in naming. You follow the tradition in your family.

Jan
