Min kones grandonkel Olaf Karelius Olsen Hagen f.14.08.1888 i Fet, Akershus,

reiste til USA sammen med tjenestejenten på gården, Bordine Johansdatter Sagen f.10.01.1894 i Elverum.

Med på reisen var også Bordines yngre bror John Johansen Sagen f.6.08.1895 i Elverum.

Bardine Hagen, 83, of the Sechlerville area near Hixton, died April 17 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn. following an illness of three months.

She was born in Norway January 11, 1894 and came to Jackson County 65 years ago settling in Curran Valley. She married Olaf Hagen in Taylor April, 1916. She was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the Hixton Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956.

Survivors include three daughters Mrs. henry G. (Jeanette) Robinson, Wabasha, Minn., Mrs. Lyle (Helen) Danielson, Mrs. Lawrence (Bernice) Greeno, tomah, one son, Roger Hagen, Rochester, Minn.; two sistes Mrs. Ninda Anderson, West Salem and Mrs. Jenny Solberg, Norway; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday (today) from Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Hixton with Rev. John Stockbridge officiating. Burial will be in Sechlerville Cemetery.

The Jensen Funeral Home of Hixton was in charge of arrangements.

141. Lawrence Erwin GREENO was born on 7 Jun 1924 in Grant Township, Monroe County, WI.^66,72 He died on 13 Sep 2007 in La Crosse, La Crosse County, WI.⁷²

Obituary Notes: "Lawrence E. Greeno, age 83, of Tomah, died Thursday Sept. 13, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse. He was born June 7, 1924, in the town of Grant to Earl and Lillie (Shepherd) Greeno. He married Irene Showen on March 7, 2001, in Sun City, AZ. Prior to his retirement, he worked at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Tomah as Chief of Food Services. He retired with a total of 38 years of civil service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the European Theater during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post #62 while living in Arizona.

 

He is survived by his wife, Irene of Tomah; three children, Merlin (Peggy) of Tomah, Gloria (Merlin) Winchell of Warrens and Dennis (Sue) of Tomah; three step daughters, Lyne Vaccaro of Arizona, Janet (Charles) Butterfield of New Mexico and Leslie (Bill) McMullen of Wisconsin Dells; many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; four sisters, Nita Keene, Allegra Epstein and Ruth Pollack, all of Tomah, and Irene Yanchek of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, four sisters, and in 1998 by his first wife, Bernice.

 

Private family services were held on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah. Pastor Edwin W. Stigen officiated.

 

When I come to the end of the day, and the sun has set for me. I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared - miss me, but let me go. For this journey we all must take, and each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Maker’s plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds - miss me but let me go."
