Utflytta

Jeg bruker et oversettelsesprogram. Jeg snakker engelsk.

En utflytta posten sier:

attest af 16.7.79, for conf.1.5.70, ledig til ægteskab

http://digitalarkivet.arkivverket.no/en-gb/kb/uf/person/pu00000000044796

Kan du oversette dette? Hva er den 16.7.79 element henviser til? Den 1.5.70 er en bekreftelse på dato. Betyr "Ledig Til ægteskab" bety fri til å gifte seg? Og hvorfor skulle posten si dette?

Takk for hjelpen.

Anyone moving from one church parish to another needed a reference from the priest. The reference could be a statement on the person's conduct, but it could also simply be a verification on the information the person was going to present to the priest in the parish he moved to. The date 16. July 1879 is the date when the priest wrote the reference. The next date 1. May 1870 is the date of confirmation (confirmation of baptism, usually done around 15 years of age). The statement "ledig til ægteskab" is a statement from the priest that he is not engaged to be married in the parish he is moving from, so he is free to marry whomever he wants.
