.  Now I have a request to find the father of this boy -

as follows on the 1865 census below:

Anders Engebretsen  Husmand with the farm, age 73, saugmester

Fredrikke Engebretsdatter, his wife, age 72

Bernt Andersen e their son  age 26

Erik Andersen  ug age 7 den sidstes stedsson

These persons listed on the farm Baarlidahlen on the 1865 census for Eidsvoll , Akershus

I was informed that Eric's birth mother was Maren Olava Larsdatter; she died after the birth of Eric's

half sister Elise Fredrikke Berntsdatter.

I'm confused!

Thank you

Åsbjørg,

Thank you!

There are comments after the death of Maren that I cannot read clearly.  Can you translate?

Hard to see and read for me there. After the first report from you above.

Then another comment on the death of Maren . T he information on her death is given and then

at the end of the right side these comments:

Mann:  25år  (2-0-2)

Døde i følge sogneprestens innberetning uten å ha vært oppført på lensmann Ekrolls

døsanmeldelser eller anmeldt på kontoret

The last comments were from the Archives death records if I'm remembering correctly.

Carla,

The comment after Maren's death contains three sentences. The first one reads: Efter Lensmandens Opgave Intet at skifte. That is: According to the sheriff's information there is nothing to inheritate. The second one reads: "Skrivelse fra Sk... af 1/3 -65."  That is: Letter from (a name) of March 1 -65." The third one I'm unable to read.

Translation of the text in Norwegian in #4: Died according to the Vicar's report without being listed in sheriff Ekroll's Death Records or reported to the office.

Thank you, Dag

Are there any clues as to what happened to Erik Jensen after 1875?   That census reveals him still living at Borlidahlen

It states Erik Jensen, Logerende     Visergut   (errand boy?)

I have found his mother, Maren died 27 Feb. 1865.

A child, Elise was born 14 Nov. 1864 to Maren and Bernt Andersen; the mother was introduced the 3rd of January 1865

and married the same day if I researched this correctly.

Carla,

Your translation of visergut (modern spelling is visergutt) is correct. The note in the Baptism record of Elise Fredrikke is not that the mother was introduced on January 3rd 1865. This column is about who did report the birth when the baby was illegitimate. It reads that the father gave this report and that the parents married on January 3rd 1865.

I'm sorry to tell you that I have no further information about what happened to Erik after his Confirmation in 1876. I don't find anyone who possibly could have been him in any of the future browsable Norwegian Censuses. Neither do I find him in the Emigration Achives. Some of the Church records of Eidsvold are browsable until 1881. Except for his Confirmation, I don't find him mentioned there.
