3. Petro Kirsten baptised at Sandar near Stokke) 25/12/1795 to Isaac Christen Waale & Helbvig Kirsten Bendtsdr. Strangely, the 1801 census for Sandar is-  Petro & Kirstine , age 6., so I dont know if that is an error or the baptism record is an error.

This cadidate was married to someone else

This family is mentioned in a source accessable to foreigners too, http://gamlegjerpen.no/Bygdebok/Sneltvedt/OdesneltvedtOvre.htm

but it doesn't make much difference because this Karen Kirstine candidate also married elsewhere.

There are not many optoons left.

I was hoping for Karen Kirstine born 7.4 1793 to Christen Sorensen & Anne Christophersdr at Notteroy,  but found that she died at Notteroy on 27/6/1796.

There is a Karen Kirstine JACOBSDATTER born 10th March and baptised 16th March 1794 at Moss, Østfold county (on the east side of the Oslo fjord)

Her parents were Jacob Mathisen and Ellen Sophia Lucasdattter who were married at Moss 19th May 1787.

Will try to check her, have not been able to find them on the 1801 census yet.

She can be ruled out: Karen Kirstine died just 10 days old

6 -age 7 to Kassemir Hals & Joachimine Nygaard born 15 mar 1792 Stokke (too early)

The Hals name indicates citizens, as opposed to farmers, Hals is a familyname. There is one Karen KirstinA HALS, perhaps a distant cousin born in the North Western part of the country. A separate posting is made, awaiting for assistance with lookups. Could this distant cousin to the Hals family in Stokke have moved to Melsom for work.

At Halvor Christians baptism in 1823 one "Ane Sophie Rubberød fra Tønsberg" were among the witnesses https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/811/5023/25

It seems like she has a story similar to Karen Kirstine's.

Anne Sophie Slagelse was married at Melsom, with royal approval and Elias Winther Jørgensen as a witness, in 1811:  https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/8214/40489/11 I think Anne Sophie was a servant at Melsom. In 1801 she worked as a houskeeper at the Flood-family in Skien: https://digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01058303001122

After her wedding, Anne Sophie moved to Tønsberg; she was a witness at a baptism in Nøtterøy dec. 28. and is called "Anders Hansen Rubberøds Hustru Anne Sophie Slagelse af Tønsberg" https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/8219/40529/85

Does this indicate that Karen Kirstine worked at Melsom in 1811?

Christen Isachsen and Maren Kirstine Jensdatter had a daughter Karen Kirstine baptised in Skien 31. mai 1794: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/7889/39406/6

This is smed (smith) Christen Isachsen and family in 1801: https://digitalarkivet.no/census/person/pf01058303001269

Christen Isachsen died 21. oct 1826: https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/7890/83222/22

The probate mentions his daughter "Karen Kirstine Christensdatter i Ægteskab med Mecanicus John Halvorsen ved Næss Jernverk" https://media.digitalarkivet.no/view/25622/644?indexing

Wow!!!    Well done Knut. i see that Karen Kistine, daughter of Christen Isaacsen  is listed only under Kistine in familysearch, rather than the actual Karen Kistine in the record., which made it more difficult to find her

She  fits everything-

-born in 1794 (just one year different from her age at the 1832 census and at her 1838 death

-born in May, so aged 41 1/2 compared to 40 1/2 at her death

-her first son was named Halvor Christian, named  after the paternal grandfather and the maternal grandfather

-we have the Isaacsen connection also

The probate record certainly provides the final proof.

I had noticed the Ann Sophie connection with Tonsberg, but had not found the further connection of her with Melsom. It certainly looks that they worked together at Melsom.

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped with this search.
