Eg er i dag komen borti ei utfordring frå Varhaug (Hå) i Rogaland og vonar at nokon med lokal kunnskap, eventuelt med hjelp av ei bygdebok, kan hjelpa meg vidare?

Last Rites for Ole Quee Held Wednesday

   Ole Quee, 86, of Milford, passed away Sunday morning, June 26, at the Myrl Nursing home in Primghar.

   Funeral services were conducted from Little Sioux Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with interment made in the Little Sioux Cemetery.  Rev. Leif Monson, conducted the last rites.

   Mrs. Harm Wolthults accompanied Mrs. Leif Monson on the organ as she sang two hymns: “I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name” and “I’m But a Stranger Here.”  Pall bearers were George Hofstad, Chris Johnson, Marenus Johnson, Noel Williams, Roy DePue and Richard Pearson.

   Ole Quee, son of Salve Abrahamson and Olene Johanneson, was born August 6, 1868, at Kvie, near Stavanger, Norway.  He worked a light house on the edge of Stavanger until he was 20 years of age.  He then came to America to make his home.  His brother, Sam, and two sisters, Anna Overland and Malene Ree came to America a short time afterwards.

   For a time after coming to America he worked on the railroad after which he started farming.  He was married to Andrina Thoneta (Nettie) Oleson and to them eight children were born.  Seven of the children survive.  Almer preceded his father in death in 1932.  In 1935 Mrs. Quee passed away and Mr. Quee continued to farm.  In March of 1938, Mr. Quee and his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Modtland and family moved to Millford.  He resided here until in June of 1954 when he was taken to the Myrl Nursing home in Primghar where he lived until his death Sunday morning, June 26, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 20 days.

   Ole served as a director in the rural schools of Okoboji township and after consolidation served as a member of Okoboji Township Consolidated School Board for a number of years.

   He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a child and has since become a member of the Little Sioux Lutheran church near Milford.

   Survivors include seven children: Gladys, Mrs. Ray Childers of Spencer; Edith, Mrs. John Modtland, of Milford; Sophia, Mrs. Earl Hartman, of Spirit Lake; Mamie Schwidder of Milford; Selmer of Spencer; Harold, of Milford; Henry, of Thayer; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ree and Mrs. Overland of Milford and two half sisters of Norway, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Utifrå innhaldet vil eg gissa på at «kandidaten» eg fann som utvandra i 1889, ligg svært «godt an» til å høva med «vår» Ole, so eg trur me satsar på at det var han!
