1. I am trying to verify this birth information for Thore from documents he signed in the United States.

2. He also states his father was Ole Thorsen and his mother was Mary Wold who were both born in Norway.

3. Would like to find their birth dates, where they were born, when and where they died, when and where they were married.

 

Perhaps when we retire we will go to the places our families immigrated from : )

 

I have tried to use a translator but many times it only translates the page not what is posted in threads here so it is impossible for me to search these forums and read the threads.

 

I am researching my husband's family. I have researched my family and the forums in Sweden were extremely helpful since I do not speak the language. I also researched a privately owned Icelandic data base and this was an amazing data base to work with in English. I could see how I was related to the first King of Denmark or Ragnar Lodbrok or the good King of Sweden. Maybe we are all related to them but it was a fun option they offered.

 

I also tried to sign up for a membership here for this forum but it said my email address already had an account. I had no previous account here and I am the only one using and owning this email address. I finally gave up since it did not appear my signing up for an account would work. Then I get an email saying my account is setup! I am happy for this account but wanted to let the owners of this forum know there is a glitch in the way a person can sign up. I use Firefox with a Google translator installed but it doesn't do a very good job. Also when I first tried to sign up . . . a small box opened up and there was barely enough room to put the account info in. Only when I hit enter did the box expand to a normal size. I avoid using Chrome since I really try to avoid Google whenever I can. I hate the way they track and sell your information. I will get rid of this plugin once I find these relatives here.

Yes Ann Mary the birth date is correct. This he puts it on many documents. He moved from Canada and the U.S. a lot and at this time he could have been an itinerant minister so it makes it kind of hard to track down when he officially immigrated to the U.S. or Canada. I am not sure he was a minister before he came to the U.S. I did find a farmer with the name but it is a common name so hard to isolate. At first glance I could not read the Norwegian document you linked to but will give it a closer look. But I do think you may have found him. I know the old spelling of Trondhjem has changed and not sure the Christianing place aligns with Trondhjem. You are so fast!

Yes this is very possibly. I looked on a map and it looks like a shipping port. I am trying to find in my documents where it states Trondheim. I have so many I have collected.

If I understand you correctly Thore's mother is Marit Arnt? But she was born in 1859 and that would make her 5 yrs older. Or is Marit a wife? Ahhhh

Thore's wife in America was Mary E. Nash and I can track her family. Mary Nash died and she went on to marry a girl from Sweden by the name of Clare but they didn't have any children.
