Thank you.  I am able to see them.  Is there a way for me to see the actual 1910 Census?  There is another branch of the family that is from the same area (generally) and I really enjoy seeing the actual records.

I have another question, please.  In the following entry, the 9th entry on the right hand page is for Ole Halvorssen, born Jan 22, 1797, baptized February 12th. His parents are Halvor Torgerssen and Inger Olsdatter.  Most of his sponsors appear to be from Sö̈rgefos, but I cannot figure out the word  following Torgerssen and the one following Ole.

Can anyone help?

In the attached link, in the third column, are Ole Rosfing and Peder Oldegaard  the witnesses (best men)?  It appears that Ole is from the Soli Farm of Oldegaard and Anne is from Rosfing?  And that it is a first marriage for both.

I read "Gaardmændene Ole Rossing og Peder Holiødegaard" for the withnesses.

The couple:

"Selveier Ole Halvorsen Solis Ødegaards-Eie 32 Aar gl."
"Hmdd. Pige Anne Hansdatter Rossi[n]g Eie 22 Aar gammel"

 

"Pige" denote that she is previously unmarried. No indication for his part.

Thank you, again, for your help. 

This is a remarkable journey. I have gone from knowing only that grandparents Nels & Lena (Kristensen) Solie emigrated from Norway to the United States in the early 1900's, to finding census, baptismal, confirmation, wedding and death records back into the 1700's.  I could not have done this without all of your help.  I can even understand a lot of what I am reading in the original records because of you.  The reference materials you all have sent me to regarding Norwegian naming traditions, church and census records and farm names have been so helpful in my search.

In the 1875 census, there is a Kari Olsdatter listed as Legdslem and poor.  What does that mean?  Also, in that census Halvor's profession no longer includes Selvejer.  Does that mean he is now just a farmer, no longer an owner?
