Rebekka Elisabeth Myhlenphort/Mühlenport (approx 1680 Kristiansund-1760), wife of priest in Karlsøy, Mikkel Hegelund (1663-1729)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I know this thread is quite old, but I try and post my questions anyway:

Would anyone have, or know how to get an acceptable source to prove that Rebekka Mühlenport, wife of priest Michel Jensen Hegelund, is the daughter of Diderik von Mühlenport? Or disprove? Could she be the daughter of a different Myhlenphort/Mühlenport?

My great-grandfather already wrote the Mühlenports in our family tree around 1910. However, since I started translating the tree for my children, I came across several misleading texts on the internet. For example, there is a text written by the historian Arne Odd Johnson which can be viewed at the Digital Museum about the history of Kristiansund:

https://digitaltmuseum.no/011085442168/myhlenfort-ga-kristiansund-30-millioner-kroner

Arne Odd Johnson does not list Rebekka Mühlenport as a daughter of Diderik! However, she keeps popping up as a daughter even on the forum of arkivverket.no.

I also found a webpage for an old book from the Lenvik museum in which she is  listed as the wife of Mikkel Hegelund on page 60. She was the wife of Hegelund and had " distinguished and influential friends and acquaintances", but is she part of the Norwegian von Myhlenphort family (a daughter of Diderik von M. and Anna Catharina Badenhaupt)?

I tried to check on the search engine of family tree, the digitalarkivet.no, internet, etc but can't find a birth record, or marriage record.

I would be grateful if someone had any reliable information.

Greetings from France, Anja

Hello Anja, in case you didn't have this: The registration of the belongings of Michael Heggelund after his death and distribution to his heirs, can be found here: Skiftemateriale: Tromsø/Troms prosti, SATØ/S-1341/F/Fc/L0015: Skifteprotokoll, 1697-1761, s. 86b-87a - Skanna arkiver - Arkivverket (digitalarkivet.no)   The record states that his widow was "Rebecca Elisabeth Mülenfort". 6 children (4 daughters, 2 sons). So there is at least proof of that part.

Best regards,

Thomas Johansen.

Well, to continue in my search I found an interesting comment on the forum:

In it, there is mention of Hasselberg/Dahl having written a book about a certain dismissed attorney Løffberg who was retained by the baillif Henrik Henriksen Riber. His sister-in-law, Rebekka Mühlenport, was married to the Karlsøy priest Mikkel Jensen Heggelund. It is known that Henrik Riieber married Margrethe von Mühlenport.

Does anyone know the book by Hasselberg/Dahl, or has access to it? Does anyone know the source of this statement?

Here she is listed in Charles Antoine Delgobe’s genealogical collections about the Mülenphort family.
She is also included in Jacob Hersleb Horneman’s genealogical collections about the Heggelund family, and his coverage of the Mülenphort family.

Horneman comments on a rumour or claim that Rebekka Elisabeth Mülenphort was the  illegitimate daughter of Frederik IV of Denmark-Norway, stating that this is false, and referring to Alf Collett’s Stamtavle over Familien Myhlenphort (1884).

Both Delgobe and Horneman state that Rebekka Elisabeth Mülenphort was married (ca.) 1696 to Michael Heggelund.

A son Didrich Christopher according to census 1701. Not mentioned in probate - probably  dead prior to his father

Thank you so much Åsbjørg for the picture of Dahl's text, and

Thank you very much Torbjørn for the three links.

I had come across Dahl already, but I was not familiar with Jacob Hornemann and Charles Delgobe. I googled Hornemann and found that he often did not include his sources, but that he had access to books that are no longer available today. Delgobe in general was praised for his work, and for donating his collection.

I liked that you,Torbjørn, pointed out that the rumour circulating about Rebekka was false.  It was actually the rumor about her being ilegitimate (later, I found other rumors that she had an illegitimate child instead) that led me to find Arne Odd Johnson's text.

Thank you to both of you.

Still, why would Arne Odd Johnson omit Rebekka? Was he not thourough enough, or did he mean only to mention those that were important in the history of Kristiansund? Did I misunderstand?

Thank you Åsbjørg.

A correction to my earlier post; the rumour was that Rebekka Elisabeth Mühlenphort had an illegitemate daughter with king Frederik IV. The rumour is included on this genealogical site (archived with the Wayback Machine), citing only “an ahnentafel on the Mühlenphort family” as the source.
Alf Collett’s book on the family, Stamtavle over Familien Myhlenphort, does not show up on the National Library (nb.no) for some weird reason. It is in the public domain, and should have been digitised and made available online.

Thank you Torbjørn for your post.

But if I translated "Er antagelig" correctly, it means that the author of this site is also unsure if Rebekka is the true daughter of Diderik Myhlenphort and Anne Catharina Badenhaupt 😞

PS.: I had also come across other sites that stated, like you had originally, that Rebekka was the illegitimate child. So actually both rumors circulate.
