I have been searching for Evine Kristoffersdatter born Feb. 15, 1874 and baptized April 19, 1874 in Mo church, Nord-Odal.  Her parents were Kristoffer Pederson (1843-1919) born in Nord Odal and died in Stange and Lina Martiniusdatter (1851-1907) born in Romedal and died in Stange.  They were married in Vallset church in Romedal on December 26, 1873.

Evine is in the 1875 census living in Nord Odal with her parents and brother Peder Kristoffersen (born in 1875).  She is in the 1891 census in Romedal living with her parents and brothers Peder Kristofersen (born in 1875) and Marius Kristofersen (born in 1877).  Evine Kristoffersen is in the 1900 census in Romedal along with her parents and brother Peder (born in 1875).

After the 1900 census I can no longer find Evine.  Her brother Marius Kristoffersen died February 22, 1898 in Romedal.  Her brother Peder Kristoffersen Helseth emigrated to America in 1905.  He died May 11, 1958 in North Dakota and was never married.  Her father Kristoffer Pedersen is listed in the 1910 census in Romedal.  He was a widower living on Eriksfaldet in Romedal.  He died May 8, 1919 and his funeral was at Tangen local parish in Stange.  Her mother Lina Martiniusdatter died November 11, 1907 in Stange, Tangen sokn.

I sure would appreciate any help in finding out what became of Evine Kristoffersdatter.

Thank you!

If I have found the right Kristoffer Pedersen here, please note that there are only two children mentioned, one of them living in the United States.

Thank you to everyone who has answered my posting.  I am unable to read or understand the Norwegian script.  Can somebody translate what this is about?  Thank you so much!  Evine's father Kristoffer Pedersen was my great great grandmother's brother and she lived in the USA.  All your help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks for all responses and translation.

Best Regards,

Clark Monson

An attempt to translate, the way I understand it:
'Thereafter commenced the criminal case against Evine Kristoffersdatter, Skisæterholen fra Walset, 26y old,  accused of infanticide of her child born out of wedlock
and for purposefully placing herself in a situation  of helplessness at its birth, and for purposefully having disposed of the dead body in an unlawful manner. [It does not actually say 'disposed of', it says she 'put it aside'.]

The accused pleaded not guilty, except for of the last accusation.
[then follows the type of court, a list of the members of the court, let me know if you want a translation of this.]

Further proceedings in the case were put off until yesterday at 5 pm.
---
"Lagmannstinget:" [Roughly the 'Lawman's court, a lower court in the local municipality]
The case against Evine Kristoffersdatter was completed during yesterday's morning session. Four witnesses were called; The parents of the accused used their right not to bear witness. "Lagretten" [the lower court] found the accused guilty of having disposed of [put aside] the dead body in an unlawful manner, whereupon she was sentenced to 8 days on water and bread, which were regarded as fully served during  detention, [This sounds as if she was in detention for longer than 8 days, because I don't believe people in detention did as a rule had their diet restricted.] and to pay 10 NOK in costs. As no more cases were to be heard, the court closed."

And perhaps another story including her.  Here is the OCR of the part I'm allowed to view:

"Side 83
budeia og jeg som var att på setra med alt arbeidet som fulgte med seterstellet. Budeia hette Evine Helseth. Hun ble også kalt Evine Skjeseterholen, for hun var visst født på Skjeseterholen og hadde bodd"

Here is more about it and the name of the resource, etc and the reference may also say she was still living in 1933:

For those who cannot access the paper:
Evine Helseth was listed as a tax payer in the local newspaper "Hamar Arbeiderblad" in 1931 and 1932. In both years she had an income but no savings or property which were taxable. In 1930-1931 the income was 700 NOK and the tax 64 NOK. The next year her income was 575 and the tax 46.

Since you know when Peter died, have you checked for an obituary for him? Perhaps a sister is mentioned as surviving in Norway? There are both Minot and Bottineau papers mounted at this site:

Thank you so much!  I found his obituary in the Minot, N. Dak. newspaper.  It states that he has no known survivors.
