Is there any chance of finding in the death records, the parentage of the deceased? Especially if it was an infant? I am looking for #70829 Johannes Nilssen from Oyre b.Oct. 20, 1843 d. August 27, 1845. I need to determine the parents. Anyway to find out?Thank you Kathy Pedersen Palm Springs, California U.S.A.

When a small child was buried (around 1845) the father's name was often, - but not always, recorded in the church book. It doesn't seem to have been so in this case, but to be quite sure, you must have a look in the original source (microfilmed). However, you will find the parents name under the christening of this Johannes. This was carried out Oct. 20, 1843. The church book records tells that his parents were Nils Johannessen Øhre (Øyre) and Gjetlaug Espensdatter. Because the age of Johannes is mentioned in burial record, it can be no doubt that this is the right family.
