John Olson's birthdate and place are given on his declaration of intention as 2 April 1877 in Bergen.  #13 is one who answers that description:

Fødselsstiftelsens sokneprestembete, ført av overlegen*, SAB/-: Ministerialbok nr. A 1, 1863-1883, s. 146

The John Olson in Madison, Dane co Wisconsin is the same as the John in the 1910 census of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.  However he cannot be Johan Olson Tveter.

That leaves us with the only known information about your John Olsen Tveter after he arrived in America  as  the information on the incoming passenger manifest from his arrival in 1905.

Here is the pertinentl information taken from that manifest

Olsen Johan to Cumberland, Barron County to friend Johan Olsen Tveter Cumberland (Cumberland is crossed out and Comstock substituted)

and his friend who travelled with him

Kristiansen, Tveter Jørgen to Cumberland and later to Relation Carl Eklund Comstock, Barron County

Comstock is an unincorporated community located in Barron County, Wisconsin, United States. Comstock is located on U.S. Route 63 southwest of Cumberland, in the town of Crystal Lake. Comstock has the ZIP code 54826, but no longer has a post office of its own.[2]

I have not found any records associated with either of the two Johan Olsen Tveter  in the Ancestry.com records for Barron, Wisconsin.

Bjørn, can you explain who are the two men both named Johan Olsen Teveter?

John Olson is a very common name.  How have you come to the conclusion that this Dane county John Olson is the correct one?

Using familysearch.org and the census selection at genealogybank.com, I find only one John Olson born about 1878 Norway and Mary combination in the 1910 census in Wisconsin, this couple in Chippewa Falls in 1910:

"United States, Census, 1910", , FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MPVP-395 : Wed Mar 06 23:51:10 UTC 2024), Entry for John Olson and Mary Olson, 1910.

John is her 2nd husband, they have been married for only two years and she is the mother of 6 living children although none are listed in the household.  John is a house carpenter and is listed with an arrival year in US of 1899.

Bjørn Olav,

Yes, you can certainly ask for help on any question you have.

Basically, every research project begins the same way, going from the information you already have to the information you need or are curious about.  So searching for Mary could be done just as was done for Johan and Anton has already posted a lot of what you are asking for.

Anton has also posted John Olson's Declaration of Intention (to become a citizen of U.S.) that was filed in 1941.  John was probably hoping to make formal his connection to the United States, and, I assume, also hoping to not be deported to Norway which was then occupied by Germany.

But in that record, he gives his birth date as April 2, 1877 and birth place as Bergen, Norway and that he and Mary were married in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on November 8, 1908.  Also he says he came into the U.S., landing at New York in May 1899, but didn't name his ship except to say that it was a ship of the White Star Line.  He has reported these things himself and has signed his name and sworn under oath that these are facts.

John Olson doesn't match what you already know about your great grand uncle Johan Olsen Tveter.  So my question to you is why are you curious about Mary, if her husband is not Johan Olsen Tveter?

From the Cumberland Advocate, April 18, 1935...

DEATH TAKES ANOTHER PIONEER

Charles Eckland, Who Saw The Railroad Reach Cumberland, Buried in the Bethany Cemetery Saturday

Charles Eckland, one of the early settlers in Cumberland, died at his home here on Thursday, April 11, after an illness which had confined him to his home and much of the time to his bed for more than six months.
Funeral services were held on Saturday at the Kellermann Funeral Home at one o'clock and at the Bethany Lutheran church at two, at which Rev. E. F. Brandt officiated, assisted by Mrs. John Engesether and Mrs. Alvin Dramdahl, who sang at the funeral home, and by the Bethany Male Choir at the church. The pallbearers were Gus Warland, C. P.Tyvoll, Ole A Ecklie, Knute Knitson, Esten Olson and C. C. Lovaas, all friends of the deceased of many years' standing. Interment was in the Bethany cemetery.
Among those from afar in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Christ Jorgenson and daughter, Evelyn, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Eckland, and daughter, Delores, Christ Eckland, Mr. and Mrs. John Schwendinger and Donald, Clifford and Ardies Grumland of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Eckland of Barron and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Westby and Buddy Martin of Minneapolis.
The deceased was born in Norway on November 28, 1854. There he married Elizabeth Marie Hammer. In 1876 he came to America and after spending some time at Fargo,N. Dak., and in northern Michigan, he came to Cumberland about 1878 and found employment in the lumber industry. His family soon joined him. They lived in Cumberland for several years and then moved onto a tract of land which is mow the Savino farm, which he later sold and purchased the farm in the Comstock community, where he lived until 1918, when he moved back to Cumberland. His wife died shortly. His daughter, Anna, has since been his housekeeper and companion.
Mr. Eckland was a man of sterling qualities who had a host of friends. Tall, slender and straight as an arrow, in spite of his years of hard work, he was a noticeable figure on the streets as he communed with his oldtime cronies, until illness overtook him.
Surviving are eight children, Frank and Anna Eckland of Cumberland, Andy Eckland of Barron, Albert and Christ Eckland and Alvina, now Mrs. Jack Schwendlinger, of St. Paul, and Camelia, now Mrs. Oscar Westby of Minneapolis; also 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Three daughters and two sons preceded him in death.

An exceedingly long shot:

"Minnesota, Deaths, 1887-2001", , FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:ZN2G-N4ZM : Sat Mar 09 16:09:53 UTC 2024), Entry for John Olson, 15 Aug 1915.

Interesting that the Norway birth in about 1877 for this John are only found on the meta data.  Actual source for that information is not revealed.  Also there is almost a one year difference between his date of death and date of his burial and he died in the City Hospital and came "from U of M", points to a situation that likely his body was used for pursuit of medical science at the University of Minnesota.  Here is information about what killed him: https://www.merckmanuals.com/home/infections/tuberculosis-and-related-infections/miliary-tuberculosis-tb#Diagnosis_v21853221

Well, there is almost certainly more to this John's story, the FAG says his burial is unmarked, so perhaps there is something in the sexton's records or an actual death certificate?  The birth year could be calculated from his death date and his age on the burial card.  His name and approximate date of birth and since no man of any name found in the WWI draft cards with target John's date of birth (except one) seems to fulfill expectation that he could be gone before 1917-1919.  But he's a long shot anyway.

And the FAG pictures "his" headstone and his body was used for the Medical School.
