He emigrated to the US in 1875. 
On July 3, 1880 he married Kristine Eleanore Miller. Of this union there were 9 children.
Jens died in 1922 and was survived by his wife and his children: 5 daughters - Minnie Sage, Alvilde Peterson, Ellen Peterson, Laura Nordahl and Mrs A.J. Moore; and 4 sons George (Tillie), Theodore, Christopher (Elvina), and Laurence (Elma) Peterson.

Kristina Eleanore Miller was born in Denmark to Anders Christ "Andrew" and Marie (Mortensen) Moeller. She emigrated to the US in 1873 and then to Iowa in 1880. She became a naturalized citizen. She had a 5th grade education. 
On July 3, 1880 she married Jens P Pederson in Iowa. To this union there were 9 children. 

Eleanore was survived by her children - 5 daughters - Minnie Sage, Emily Peterson, Ellen Peterson, Laura Nordahl and Mrs A.J. Moore; and 4 sons George (Tillie), Theodore, Christopher (Elvina), and Laurence (Elma) Peterson.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jens, in 1922.
