That translation probably does not make much sense as it refers to the discussion above where the Norwegian are beating me up for not forcing you to change your user name of Winter to your full name.

Here is a link to a site that explains how to change your user name. It is in both Norwegian and English.  Try and see if you can change your User Name from Winter to your full name that will rectify things and keep the Norwegians from having a hissy fit.

If you are interested in the history of Niels Nielsen as well as his wife Aagot you might start with Aasen, the place that is listed in the birth record for their first child,. I posted the link above from Ketil,

]

Based on the death record posted by Ketil above he was born about 1774.

Hello Anton and others who may read my reply,

My Lineage is "Trosterud",  My GF was Karl August Trosterud/married Thea Mathilde Hansen.  They immigrated to Canada with my GM Astrid Trosterud and other children.  I understand that Karl August Trosterud's family owned farms but I am unable to find any info about that.

Niels Nielsen Trosterud/Aagath gave birth to Anders Nielsen Trosterud, b. Aug 5, 1817 (my lineage) however, I have been found very little about Niels Nielsen Trosterud but some information about Aagath with your/others help.

The language barrier is proving difficult and I am finding the DA challenging to say the least.

Anton, can you tell me if "Aker" was a part  of Enebakk?  I printed a map of Akershus and am trying to determine a visual idea of  where places are.

I am also trying to research Kari Hansdatter (mother to Aagath) and her husband Anders Evensen

The naming practices were very different in Norway as surnames were not used from what I have read.

I would like to thank you, and everyone for the help.  I truly appreciate the time/effort it takes to research.   I am a senior, and very often look at pics of Norway online.  It seems to be a very beautiful country and I often wonder why my GR/GF left for Canada.

Kindest regards,

Jan Stuart

Well Jan we now know your full name is Jan Stuart. So if you would please change your user name from Winter to Jan Stuart. That will hopefully satisfy the Norwegians.

No, Enebakk is a separate Parish from Aker. This map from Family Search shows Aker as Vestre Aker and Østre Aker and surrounding Oslo.

Probably during the time that your ancestors left Norway the people of Norway were significantly poorer than they are now and most Norwegians left for North America to find a better life.

Well you do have a long and somewhat complicated family line back to Niels Nielsen Trosterud and Aagot Andersdatter. I finally put together a brief Family Line so I could follow it. It is rough but hopefully accurate. It does not take us past Niels Nielsen Trosterud and that step may be difficult. Here is the family line but it may still need some work. You may or may not be aware of Christen Andersen Trosterud kind of stuck in the middle of the line.

Astrid parents are

Karl August Trosterud 1874 married Thea Mathilde Hansen

Parents of Karl August are Christen Andersen Trosterud 1847 married Julie Josephine Johannesdatter

Parents of Christen Andersen Trosterud are Anders Nielsen Trosterud  1818 and Berthe Kristine Gabrielsdatter

Parents of Anders Nielsen Trosterud are Niels Nielsen Trosterud and Aagot Andersdatter.

Anton, you are correct with the line and it certainly seems complicated.

Unable to find any info about Niels Nielsen (aka Nils) Trosterud, except born abt 1774

Aagot Andersdatter parents are Anders Evensen b. 1745, mother is Keri Hansdatter, b. 1736, d. 1812 in Akershus, Aker, Oslo. I don't know if info is accurate and cannot find any info about Anders Evensen/Keri Hansdatter

On one church record or census I found children of Anders/Keri listed as Aagaath, b 1778, Hermana, b 1774 and Jorgen Evensen, b 1800 but am unsure if accurate

Unsure if they had any more children

Anton, I do have all the information you collected with respect to my Grt GM Thea Mathilde/Karl August Trosterud.  Astrid, my Grandmother, their daughter, married later in life and resided in Ontario, Canada with my Grandfather.  My father was their son, however, he passed away when I was a child so it has been very important to me to find his lineage in Norway.

These are the Immigration records for Thea with her children.  My Grandmother was Astrid.  How very brave to travel by ship to a new land with her children.

Anton,  what were the conditions like in Norway during this time?  Did people immigrate due to difficult times in Norway?  It seems that many people left Norway for the USA and Canada.
