John K. Hjortland

STOUGHTON - John K. Hjortland, 84, died Monday afternoon in a Stoughton hospital after a brief illness. Born in Lardal, Sogn, Norway, he came to this country at the age of 17. and was married to Lena Harried Sept. 8, 1888, in Stoughton. He was formerly employed at the Stoughton wagon works for more than 40 years. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Carl J., Stoughton; Martin, Long Lake, Ill., and the Rev. Elmer Hjortland, Minneapolis, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Oscar Rorge, Stoughton; Mrs. Homer Vick, McFarland, and Mrs. Arthur Olson, Rockford, Ill.; 14 grand children, and nine great-grand children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in Central Lutheran church, Stoughton, with the Kev. Walter Nordby officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the Edison funeral home from 7 tonight until 11 a. m. Thursday.
