@Rune Thorstensen
Hei Rune, da fikk jeg faktisk svar (etter 4 år) fra den første jeg kontaktet hos Ancestry. Svaret finnes under:
Hi Egil,
I realize this message is 4 years late! I stopped my genealogy project but recently thought to pick it back up. I hope you were able to find the information you were looking for. Edward Johanssen would be on my wife’s side so I will ask her and her family members what they know. Unfortunately my wife’s grandmother, Agnes Bushing (Johnson) just passed, otherwise she may have had info. Anyway, I apologize for the severely delayed note, and good to connect with you!
Jeg har allerede sendt et svar tilbake, gjengir dette under (la meg vite om det evt. er noe mer du vil jeg skal spørre om):
Hello,
Thank you for getting back to me, even after such a long time! I truly appreciate it.
Just to clarify, I'm actually assisting a friend with this particular inquiry.
I'm sorry to hear about Agnes’ passing. It sounds like she might have had some useful information, as you mentioned. I understand she had two siblings: Edward John, who I believe passed away on June 18, 2019; and Miriam, born May 3, 1929, married to a Schetlick. I’m curious, is Miriam still alive? She would have been very young when her father passed, so I’m not sure how much she would have known about him.
I also don’t know how much your wife may know about her great-grandfather, Edward Johnson (Johanssen), or if she’d be interested in learning more about him. If she is, I believe we may be able to help. I understand researching Edward could be difficult, especially since he seems to have changed his first name entirely. He was married at least once before, with his first wife passing away and possibly a second divorce, before he married your wife’s great-grandmother, Catherine Maria Baer, in November 1923.
On a related note, I did come across a detail on your Ancestry page, where you listed Edward's birth as September 23, 1893, in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway, and mentioned it was taken from his death certificate. Do you have access to this certificate? I noticed you also listed his parents as Wilmar Johanssen and Christina — is that information from the death certificate as well? And if so, does it include any other details that might be helpful?
Lastly, do you happen to know if there was an obituary for Edward? I’ve searched through some newspapers but haven’t been able to locate one.
I hope this message finds you well, and again, I appreciate your response. Let’s try not to wait another four years before we reconnect! 😉
Best regards,
Egil
